good, great, google+

why doesn’t google do what it does best on its new social network, google+?  by which i mean: search.  a good search tool seems to be nonexistent in the realm of social media.  like, do you remember that one time that person posted that thing on your facebook wall about the monkey peeing on itself?  wasn’t that awesome?  if only you remembered when that was.  oh, wait—even if you did remember when that was, you’d still have to scroll and scroll and scroll and load more walls posts and load more wall posts and keep going past all the asinine comments you left on other people’s photos and the 1,001 bullshit birthday messages from all the people who “remembered” you on your special day because facebook reminded them.  what if you could just search your stream?  or search your friend’s stream, on g+?  unlike the circles function, which facebook co-opted (more quickly than i suspected they could, actually)—a really good search tool is something that might take fb much longer to develop.

i already like g+ better because you don’t have to deal with any of the bullshit that is so pervasive on fb.  i’m looking at you, zynga (but also at all the other dumb-ass features, too: shitty apps, pointless virtual gifts, annoying suggestions, etc.).  my only complaint about g+ is that not enough people are using it.  so get yr shit together, peeps.  get on the g-train.  they’re gonna own every aspect of your life sooner or later, whether you like it or not.  so why not make the jump now, to a social network that isn’t quietly fucking with your privacy settings every chances it gets?
